Now that I am back at work, Fridays are my only days alone with my boys. They are 9 months old now and a lot easier to handle on my own, however, I don't really take them anywhere on my own unless its just for a walk in their stroller. I really want to start doing more with them on my Fridays off but I don't really know where to start. Last Friday I was so tired from being back at work that we just hung out at home and didn't even go on a walk. This week I at least want to get back to that.
We live right in the middle of Los Angeles and Orange County so there are tons of places to go and sites to see, I'm trying to start with something easy like an aquarium or something where I can keep them in their stroller and just walk them around to see different things. Not sure how interested they will be at this age but I think they will enjoy a change of scenery.
What kinds of places did you or do you plan to take your baby(ies) to around this age?

Museums, zoos, the YMCA...have you tried to maybe find a mommy and me class on Fridays or a playgroup? I find it MUCH easier to get out and get moving with the kids when I belong to a group!
ReplyDeleteNo advice but enjoy your adventure Fridays!
ReplyDeleteMy M-I-L has taken my nieces and nephew to the SA Zoo many times. It's very small and easy to keep track of the kids. She bought a membership (very low cost) and they go a lot. We will prob. get one when school is out. :) Glad that everything seems to be working out so far. We had a question about sleeping though.... do the boys co sleep with you? We're struggling with sleeping right now. Just curious. Hope all is well. Good luck with this rainy week!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments! Of course now the weather is horrible so we aren't going anywhere, but I will check out the zoo and try that. Thanks!
ReplyDelete@Lucky Duck, we do co-sleep. It wasn't how we planned but at the moment, it was the only way any of us would get some sleep. The funny thing is we would hold the babies til they fell asleep and then lay them on our bed towards the middle and I would lay on one side and nurse one and then switch to the other side to nurse the other...and repeat throughout the night. My poor wife got the foot of the bed (we have a King) and diaper duty. :)
We have transitioned the little guy over to his crib FINALLY since he no longer wakes up to eat throughout the night and he sleeps wonderfully (from 7-8pm to 5-6AM). The big guy still sleeps with me and nurses throughout the night so he isn't in his crib yet. Someday...before we turn it into a toddler bed, I hope he joins his brother in the nursery!
