Jinxed!

After my last post discussing all the reasons I cannot get sick...It happened, I got sick! I caught a cold, probably from the pediatricians office (which was filled with sick kids). Luckily, I'm all better now. It was a pretty mild cold and thank god it wasn't the flu! I got through it from beginning to end in about 5 days with no medications. My milk supply went down a little, but it wasn't too bad, I just didn't have the extra to freeze.

The whole time I was worried about getting the babies sick, since they haven't had their RSV shot yet, but so far so good. With the exception of some slight congestion for the lil guy a few weeks back, they haven't been sick in their almost 6 months of life, and I intend to continue doing everything I can to keep this going as long as possible.

Its not easy, and I know its getting annoying now that the babies are getting bigger. It seems like since they don't look fragile anymore, people expect me to forget all my rules and let them put their germy lil hands all over the babies. Not going to happen! I carry my antibacterial gel everywhere we go, with one bottle in every bag we take (for easy access)-not that we go many places to begin with.

I've been getting a few comments here and there from friends and family, basically telling me I'm crazy, and I'm starting to lose my patience. I hate when people say "you have to let them get sick...its good for them"...ugh, go to hell! Its never good for kids to get sick, and while I understand how immune systems work, I also understand how well they don't work when you have preemies. I wish people would just keep their opinions to themselves. Until you have had twins, born 2 months early, with all the complications we have had, have had to leave them in the hospital for 2 months, come home on oxygen with doctors telling you they'd have a high chance of going back to the hospital for something as simple as the common cold, THEN you can offer advice, until then, stay the hell away from me! I'm doing my best and so far its working. I don't need any crap.

Ok I feel better now... Goodnight!

  1. Hi, I'm sorry to hear you've caught a cold and I hope you're not feeling too sick. It must be hard looking after two little ones when you're sick.
I'm also sorry to hear everyone giving you advice that you're not finding helpful. You know what's best for your kids and you've got them so far already. They're lucky to have such great moms!

  3. Hi there! Sorry you are sick! Our pediatrician MADE us and GAVE us the flu shot at the last appt. for the twins. Crazy! I think it may have been my 1st flu shot. Hopefully it works! We noticed you posted on our blog about pictures... we actually did it at Target and had a great experience! They have packages or you can just pay $3.99 a sheet (various sheets available). J found a coupon online that I can get you the addy for.
